Children's Dentist in New Lambton

Child at Dentist | Children's Dentist New LambtonAt New Lambton Family Dental, our general dentists also see children, and they take children’s dental care very seriously. We want your child to have the best head-start when it comes to a healthy smile. This is why our compassionate team works hard to instil healthy oral habits in children from the beginning.

In our New Lambton, NSW dental clinic, we treat your child the way we would treat our own child, and we want nothing but the best for the little smiles that visit our dental clinic.

Preventive Dentistry from the First Visit

The first step to helping children gain a good understanding of dentistry and the importance of good oral hygiene habits is eliminating fear and anxiety.

From the first visit, our team begins building a relationship with your child. Working hard to gain their trust and helping to relieve fear by talking to them about their teeth and the various dental instruments in our dental clinic. The first visit means our team gets to know your child, and your child gets to know us. We engage, educate and listen to your child who may have many questions.

We will show them proper tooth brushing techniques even if they do require parental assistance until around the age of eight.

We also let you know what to expect as your child grows and their baby teeth become permanent teeth, and we always take time to answer your questions and address your concerns.

Dentistry as Your Child Ages

As your child ages, preventive dentistry may expand from exams, cleans and periodic x-rays to fluoride treatments, dental sealants, mouth guards, fillings and other specific treatments to keep their teeth consistently healthy.

Our New Lambton, NSW dentist's, Oral Health Therapist's & Hygienist's will always take time to explain your child’s oral health or why a specific treatment has been recommended.

Comfortable Dentistry for Your Child

Our compassionate general dentists use a topical anesthetic to numb the skin before using an injected anesthetic. We don’t want children to be afraid of the dentist, and often they do not even realise they’ve had an injection. They simply feel the numbness before and during dental work.

We Are Committed to Your Child’s Dental Health

We invite you to book an appointment for your child at New Lambton Family Dental.

Frequently Asked Questions

The dentists at our New Lambton, NSW practice recommend your child see the dentist around the age of three unless you have a specific concern. When kids are this age, our dentists are better able to communicate with them, and this makes the dental clinic feel more welcoming and less scary. At this age, we can show kids the instruments and explain in age-appropriate fashion what the dental instruments are all about, or we can show them that the dentist clinic can be fun.

We suggest bringing your children to our dental clinic so they can observe your dental appointment first. If mums and dads seem happy to be getting an exam or clean, this may make it easier for your child later on.

During the first exam, children ride in the chair for a laugh, and we work hard to set them at ease and engage with them throughout the visit. Our dentists do a fun exam, and our caring and gentle team gives positive attention as well.

Our team has experience with children, and we work hard to make your child feel at ease by learning what works best for him or her.

We build relationships with our youngest patients and make efforts to instil positive oral hygiene habits from the start.

If your child is ready for the first dental exam, we invite you to give our New Lambton, NSW dental clinic a call to book an exam.
